Treo 650 on it's way.

Palm has announced that their new improved Treo 650 is on it's way. Rumour has it that Canadian carriers have them already and are waiting for Palm to do the official release. At which time the Canadian carriers will release them as well.

New Features on Treo 650
User Swapable Battery
Hi-Res Screen
Bluetooth
Palm OS 5.4

It look like they have fixed the issues with 600.
Might consider using this one.

Not enough ipod's for holidays?

News from Apple Insider suggests that Apple will not be able to produce enough ipods for the holiday season. Apple produced and sold 2 million ipods during the last quarter and is expecting sell double that this quarter. They are producing as many as physically possible, they do not expect to be able to meet that quota. If you want one this holiday season get it soon. There may not be any left on Dec. 24th.

Halo 2 - On the Net

One month before it is due, Halo 2 has been released on the internet. It is a French PAL version and has english subtitles according to the reports. This version, however, will not be capable of the most anticipated feature of Halo 2 which is Xbox Live compatability. There are a few rumors going around this that have not yet been confirmed. The first is that the released version may only be Beta source code, because some are reporting very poor video quality in cut scenes.

Needless to say Microsoft is very upset.

Surprise, Surprise

A few of you may know that Microsoft released a private Beta of MSN Messenger 7 a little while ago, and if you search on the net you might be able to find it. It is not to much of a surprise to anyone who uses Microsoft software that, they found a bug. Infact they found bug big enough that they are removing key features from MSN 7 at this point, however they may be added again to later Betas. These include "Winks" and "Deluxe Display Pictures". Currently it's easy for hackers to exploit the code of winks to display any flash movies on a users computer for any amount of time.

Users who are currently running the MSN 7 Beta will be forced to downgrade to 6.2 which is the current public release. Otherwise you will not be able to log in.

I'm just going to stick with 6.2 for now. :)

Intel adds EDB to chips

Intel is now shipping processors that support Execute Disable Bit or EDB. This technology is used by Windows XP SP2 to render some viruses ineffective. This technology can already be found in chips from AMD, Transmeta, and other CPU manufacturers. All Intel CPU’s that have the EDB technology will have a “J” at the end of there model. All new Pentium chips manufactured for Socket T, from 520 to 560 will have this new security technology.

Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory by where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.

To bad for Intel they are behind on this one.

Symantec's Norton 2005 product line is here!!

Symantec has just recently released their entirely new 2005 product line.
You can check it out here. http://www.symantec.com/product/index_homecomp.html
I am posting this for three reasons.
1) If you don't have AntiVirus software stop reading this now and go get some.
2) If you have a older version you may consider upgrading. This year it is better than ever.
3) I warn everybody shopping for Norton's software to make sure that the copy you get is 2005 and not 2004. There are still a lot of the 2004 version on shelves, and it is not any cheaper.

Massive Airtime from Rogers...

Rogers Wireless is currently offering a $45/month plan including 700 daytime, and unlimited evening and weekend minutes. Does anybody use that much airtime… Really? You do have to renew for two years to take the plan, but everybody is eligible.
